This is an update from our Church Planting Pastor Jonathan Lugo about God’s ongoing work in Central Falls, RI.
This morning, my son Isaac and I began a Bible study at a nutrition club in Central Falls, RI. The owner had given us permission last week to come every Tuesday to study the Bible with her and any customers who might stop by. To our surprise, there were ten people there listening to the Gospel.
We began by studying Mark chapter 1, emphasizing that Jesus Christ—the Son of God—is the "good news" mentioned in the very first verse of that chapter.
We explained to each of the listeners, first of all, the bad news that arose because of sin. We shared that, from the very beginning, humanity has rebelled against the Just and Holy God—the Creator of all things—and that this is bad news because such rebellion brought consequences and separation from God. We then presented the good news: even though humanity rebelled against that Just and Holy God, He Himself sought a way to reconcile the relationship broken by sin by sending His precious Son, Jesus Christ, to forgive all our sins and grant eternal life to everyone who places their faith in Jesus. We explained that the only way to be reconciled with that Just and Holy God is through repentance and faith in Jesus.
Most of them were receptive to the message and expressed a desire to learn more about the Jesus we were preaching.
At the end of the study, we were able to answer questions—very good questions, in fact—and pray for each of the requests they shared with us. We agreed to continue studying Mark chapter 1 next Tuesday.
Please join us in praying for the salvation of each of these individuals, and that their hearts may be attentive to the message of God's Word next Tuesday.
Please also pray, because after that Bible study, my son and I went to a park to share the Gospel; we met a woman there, shared the Good News with her, and she became interested in attending church. Pray that she may ultimately embrace the faith.
Also, please pray because, following that, we visited a nursing home and asked for permission to hold a weekly Bible study there for those interested.
Pray that God opens doors for the Gospel to continue advancing in Central Falls.
