Redemption Hill Community Church
Since 2011, Redemption Hill Church has been a source of gospel truth and compassion in this city known for its early Canadian mill workers and its gritty character. RHC joined New England Urban Church Planting as an adopted church in early 2026.

Maine doesn't conjure images of the inner city, but Lewiston reflects the diversity, density, and disposition of our nation's inner cities.
Poverty and teen homelessness are common. Food insecurity and joblessness are as well. But with the diversity comes an opportunity for the gospel to shine in a church devoted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Micah Lang often translates his sermons into four or five languages each Sunday. This church is fulfilling Christ's "all nations" commission through the preaching of the gospel and the discipleship of men and women from places where the gospel is not known and not even allowed. In a city where diversity divides, this gospel preaching church unites. And in a city where poverty abounds, the riches of the cross of Christ are offered freely and joyfully.
Lewiston is home to Bates College
Redemption Hill Church is home to men and women from over a dozen countries.
NEU’s Church Planting Process
Explore
Current
NEU begins a church plant by identifying a location. This involves many conversations with local pastors, ministry leaders, civic leaders and looking at data.
Prepare
Current
The preparation phase begins when a church planter has joined our staff, begins raising support, and starts his church planting residency with NEU and a partner church.
Plant
Current
The planting phase is marked by bringing a group of believers to a point of covenanting together as a church. This may involve months of teaching on the nature of a church, church membership, baptism, communion and church discipline.
Sustain
Current
This final phase begins when a church covenants together and it has no end. NEU Church Planting works to sustain the church and its leadership through fundraising, care, and recruiting.

The Story So Far
Micah Lang reached out to NEU Church Planting in 2025 and we quickly developed a warm partnership. Their whole church has eagerly embraced their adoption into the NEU family.
Micah and his wife Felicia have three children and have been at RHC since 2020. Micah grew up as a pastor's kid, went to Boston for art school, and then sensed God leading him into pastoral ministry.
Micah brings a heart rich with reflection and thanksgiving for the work of the gospel. He likes to preach it, live it, and write about it. Even as we hope to support and encourage Micah and RHC, we also know he will contribute to NEU as he teaches, writes, and encourages his brothers and sisters at NEU Church Planting family.

Individuals, churches, and organizations are key to sustaining church plants. These organizations have partnered with NEU to help with this church plant.
